Our Story

The Spirit of Sebastian Foundation was born out of love, resilience, and the desire to transform pain into hope.

After the heartbreaking loss of our son Sebastián to a fentanyl overdose on March 21, 2023, we chose to honor his life and dreams by creating a foundation that reflects his generous heart and his wish to help others.

From this deep wound emerged a powerful mission: to protect, educate, and guide young people and families so they do not have to face the same tragedy. The Foundation started as a small effort within our community, sharing Sebastián’s story to raise awareness about the dangers of fentanyl and drug abuse. Very quickly, it grew into a movement that provides prevention programs in schools, support for families, and access to rehabilitation for those struggling with addiction.

Sebastián’s spirit lives on in every life we touch. His story continues to inspire us to work tirelessly so that other young people may have the chance to live, dream, and build a future free from drugs.

Mission

The Spirit of Sebastian Foundation was created in loving memory of our son, Sebastian “Flacko” Zimbron, a young man who courageously battled addiction until the end.

Our mission is to prevent and raise awareness about substance abuse while supporting individuals who are ready and willing to begin their recovery journey.

We achieve this through educational and awareness programs in schools and community settings, fundraising initiatives, and collaborations with local halfway houses. We also provide partial financial assistance for rehabilitation treatments and promote emotional, spiritual, and psychological well-being. Through prevention, education, and recovery support, we are committed to breaking the cycle of addiction and helping individuals rebuild their lives with dignity and purpose.

What We Do

The Spirit of Sebastian Foundation is dedicated to preventing substance abuse, raising awareness, and supporting recovery within our community. We conduct educational talks in schools, churches, and community organizations, often featuring young people who share their testimonies of overcoming addiction to inspire and guide others.

We provide resources and guidance to parents whose children are beginning to experiment with drugs, connecting them to counseling, rehabilitation programs, and support networks. Through collaboration with local organizations, halfway houses, and treatment centers, we help individuals access the emotional, spiritual, and psychological support they need for lasting recovery.

Our work combines prevention, education, and direct assistance, aiming to break the cycle of addiction and build healthier, more resilient.
